Northern Shield Esports: Improving The Canadian Esports Ecosystem
Ben Feferman, CEO of Amuka Esports, connected with us to discuss the Northern Shield Academy, a subsidiary of Amuka Esports. Based in Canada, Amuka has an entire esports ecosystem with professional teams, media and content, gaming venues and live experiences.
JustGamers: What is Northern Shield Esports?
Northern Shield is an esports academy and competitive development team. Our goal is to provide entry-level access to the industry with little to no barrier to entry. Northern Shield offers educational courses in games and provides social panels with information on how to break into specific roles in the industry, including production, streaming, casting, marketing, management, and more.

JustGamers: How can individuals participate and engage with Northern Shield Esports?
Northern Shield has many opportunities for participation and engagement. Shield offers programs for players and content creators to get their foot in the door in the industry. In January, we hosted our first eight-week intro to esports program in Fornite, VALORANT, and Rocket League. Two weeks we brought in industry professionals to talk about the importance of mental health and content creation.
The community may join our discord server to communicate with our staff and players, find our youtube videos and lessons in games that we focus on, and play with our players and other community members.
Shield has just recently launched its Tier 3 development rosters in Rocket League and Rainbow Six. Shield R6 and RL will compete in multiple leagues and tournaments while working alongside Parabellum Staff to work on their in-game skills and personal brands.
