Square Enix launches Forsaken Maiden, Demon Slayer game gets Nintendo Switch release
Square Enix has announced Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden will be released on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on February 17, 2022.
Developed by Square Enix, Forsaken Maiden is coming to the aforementioned platforms and PS5 via backward compatibility in less than a week.
The announcement was a surprise for fans after the previous game, Voice of Card: The Isle Dragon Roars was released four months ago.
Forsaken Maiden plot, price
Information about the game listed on Steam suggests that Forsaken Maiden is not a direct sequel to Isle of Dragon Roars and each game can be enjoyed as a standalone experience. Hence, fans new to the Voice of Cards series can enjoy Forsaken Maiden without having to get through Isle of Dragon Roars.
Pre-purchase for Forsaken Maiden on Steam is $29.99. On the other hand, prices for the pixel art set and other additional content have yet to be released.
Furthermore, the story about the Forsaken Maiden also have been listed on Steam under “About this game” and it reads:
“Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden is set on a remote chain of islands that have been protected by the maidens for generations, but which now face destruction. The hero of the story vows to save the islanders and sets sail for the high seas, together with Laty, a girl who failed to become a maiden.”
Creative minds behind the game
Moreover, Forsaken Maiden is set to be a tabletop RPG presented entirely through the medium of cards. Put it simply, it is a card game.
“The second game in the unique Voice of Cards series, where all elements are presented entirely through the medium of cards, in the tradition of tabletop RPGs and gamebooks. A touching tale set in a world of melancholic beauty, brought to you by the creative minds of YOKO TARO, Keiichi Okabe and Kimihiko Fujisaka.” The game details on Steam reads.
One of the creative minds behind the game is a 51-year old Japanese video game director and scenario writer, Yoko Taro who had a prolific career within the gaming industry. His previous works include the video game RPG series Drakengard, Nier, and Nier: Automata.
Complementing Yoko’s work is acclaimed Japanese composer and arranger, Keiichi Okabe, best known for composing music for Tekken, Drakengard and Nier Series. In addition to the lineup is character designer Kimihiko Fujisaka who had worked on the Nier Replicant, Drakengard series and on major video game companies like Square Enix among others.
Demon Slayer on Switch release
Additionally, Aniplex has announced on February 6, 2022 via press release that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles is set to be released on Switch Port for Japan and Asia.
The Nintendo Switch release is set on June 9 for Japan and information about the release for North America and Europe has yet to be announced. The game was previously released for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC in October 2021.
