Scathe brings FPS action and more, demo available on Steam
Leading UK video game publisher Kwalee has announced a publishing deal with a three-person indie developer Damage State to deliver the developer’s debut title Scathe to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, and Epic Store sometime later this year.
PC demo for Scathe will be available on Steam in the upcoming Next Fest celebration from February 21-28. Players may also add Scathe to their wishlist prior to its release date.
Scathe’s gameplay, cross-platform
Kwalee has released Scathe’s announcement trailer on YouTube showcasing its FPS Doom-like gameplay as the player navigates through a deadly maze and fight through waves of enemies. The announcement trailer also showcases online co-op gameplay and more.
Moreover, Scathe is set to support cross-platform multiplayer and co-op for players to enjoy as per multiple reports. Additionally, Scathe’s multiplayer allows up to three friends to join in the fight, but everyone in Scathe shares the same pool of lives.
“Scathe is an intense, classic FPS with big guns and even bigger demons. You are Scathe, Enforcer of the Legions of Hell, forged from the earth by the Divine Creator Himself. And you, like your fallen kin before you, must prove your worth by navigating a deviously crafted maze, entangled with demonic evil at every twist and turn. So, grab your Hell Hammer and get ready to unleash your almighty fury.” The announcement trailer description reads.
Players’ task in Scathe is simple, collect three Hellstones and head to the center of the maze. That is the easy part, the hard part is navigating through waves of enemies in the maze. In addition to that, players may choose their own path in the maze, but in order to progress, players need to collect runes and deal with who or whatever blocking the way.
“Use Scathe’s brute strength and extreme speed to purge your way through Hell’s most grotesque abominations, as you search for the Hellstones and defeat the all-powerful Guardians that protect them.” Scathe’s description on Steam reads.
Furthermore, from the announcement trailer, instead of going out guns-blazing, players must move at all times to dodge bullets and avoid enemy attacks or projectiles. The game’s traversing is not linear as it shows jumping from one platform to the other. Therefore players may expect traversing variety in Scathe.
Therefore, players may expect a hell of a ride navigating through what the game can offer as the game puts heavy emphasis on speed, quick reflexes, heavy firepower, and “big guns and even bigger demons.”
For now, there are no details for the game’s release date. But, according to multiple reports, the game would come a bit later in 2022.
