CryptoBlades: The Beginner’s Guide

This CrytoBlades Beginner’s Guide will show you how to start playing this game as smoothly as possible. CryptoBlades is an online web-based blockchain play-to-earn NFT game that is currently on both the Binance Smart Chain and Huobi Eco Chain. Players can earn through battling monsters using their characters and weapons, which will reward them with SKILL – in-game currency which can be used to upgrade your team or exchanged for real-world money.

CryptoBlades is a clicker type of game and since it is web-based, there are no downloads required, the game is available on all browsers through their official website. Though the access is fairly simple, starting your CryptoBlades journey requires a bit of set-up before you can start playing and earning. 

An important thing to note before beginning is that you can either set up an account using BSC or HECO, just either one. Since your wallet will be operating on different networks, the characters you recruit using your BSC account cannot be transferred to your HECO account and vice versa.

Getting Started with BSC (Binance Smart Chain)

Step 1: Setup MetaMask Account

The first thing you need to do is setup a MetaMask wallet.

You can download the MetaMask browser extension or install the MetaMask app for your device and create a new wallet if you don’t have one already.

MetaMask is connected to the Ethereum Mainnet by default. But CryptoBlades runs on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) so make sure to change it manually before doing transactions.

Step 2: Setup a Binance Account – Buy BNB

Assuming you don’t have one yet, you need to create a Binance account. Since CryptoBlades runs on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC), you will need to purchase BNB to swap for SKILL tokens to buy characters and weapons and for gas fees to play.

Step 3: Check Recruitment Price

For beginners who don’t know how many BNB to convert to SKILL, you may want to check the price for recruitment as it fluctuates to balance with the current SKILL pool. Go to the CryptoBlades Plaza section to check. Players with a full set of characters will not be able to see the price for recruitment as there is a four character limit for each account.

Step 4: Send BNB to Metamask

After buying BNB on Binance. you will need to send it to your MetaMask account.

You will need to:

• Open your Binance account and click on BNB actions ‘Withdraw’
• Open your MetaMask and get your address. Make sure that you are on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC).
• Paste your MetaMask address to Binance and choose BEP20
• Verify your transaction

After a few minutes, you should be able to see your BNB reflected on your MetaMask wallet.

Step 5: Convert BNB to SKILL

Now that you have BNB in your MetaMask wallet, it is time to convert it into SKILL.

You will need to go to a decentralized exchange, ApeSwap in this case, and purchase SKILL using BNB. You will need to connect your MetaMask wallet to ApeSwap to be able to make transactions. After connecting, simply input the amount of BNB you would like to convert to SKILL.

Make sure to leave enough BNB for gas fees, converting all your BNB to SKILL will make the game unplayable.

Getting Started with HECO (Huobi Eco Chain)

Step 1:  Set Up MetaMask Account

Assuming you already followed the MetaMask for BSC instructions above, you should already have a MetaMask account. You will need to manually change your MetaMask from Etherium or Binance Smart Chain Mainnet to the HT Mainnet.

To do this, you will need to go to Settings>Networks> Add Network and input the following:

Network Name: Heco Mainnet

New RPC URL: https://http-mainnet-node.huobichain.com

Chain ID: 128

Symbol: HT

Block Explorer URL: https://scan.hecochain.com

After that simply select HT Mainnet from your Networks.

Step 2: Setup a Huobi Account – Buy HT

Assuming you don’t have one yet, you need to create a Huobi account to buy Huobi Tokens. HT will serve as your currency for gas fees and to buy SKILL.

After buying HT on Huobi, you will need to send it to your MetaMask account.

You will need to:

• Open your Huobi account and click on HT actions ‘Withdraw’
• Open your MetaMask and get your address. Make sure that you are on the HT Mainnet.
• Paste your MetaMask address to Huobi and choose HECO
• Verify your transaction

After a few minutes, you should be able to see your HT reflected on your MetaMask wallet.

Step 3: Convert HT to SKILL

Now that you have HT in your MetaMask wallet, it is time to convert it into SKILL.

You will need to go to a decentralized exchange, ButterSwap in this case, and swap SKILL using HT. You will need to connect your MetaMask wallet to ButterSwap to be able to make transactions. After connecting, simply input the amount of HT you would like to convert to SKILL.

Make sure to leave enough HT for gas fees, converting all your HT to SKILL will make the game unplayable.

Time to play CryptoBlades

After all the preparation in setting up either your account using BSC or HECO, it is now time for you to start building your team.

Recruit Character and Forge Weapon

You can go to the CryptoBlades website and recruit a character at the Plaza. It will generate a character NFT with an alignment to one of four elements: Fire, Earth, Lightning, and Water.

You can now forge a weapon using SKILL in the Blacksmith. Weapons have different rarities and attributes which affect the power they have when fighting enemies. Weapons can also be reforged which adds to their existing stats. Characters with weapons of the same elemental alignment will have even more power over enemies in battles.

Note that both the summoning of characters and forging of weapons use random number generation or RNG meaning there is no way for you to know what character element or weapon rarity you will be getting. This is why it is advised to look for good deals at the Market to help build your team more efficiently.

Play to Earn in Combat

After recruiting your first character and forging your weapon, you can now play to earn in combat.

Select your chosen character and a weapon to fight against one of four opponents. Make sure to choose opponents based on their elemental alignment as it affects the effectiveness of your character’s power and their chance of winning against the enemy.

• Fire is strong against Earth and weak against Water
• Earth is strong against Lightning and weak against Fire
• Lightning is strong against Water and weak against Earth
• Water is strong against Fire and weak against Lightning

Each character has a set amount of 200 stamina and can battle up to seven times at the cost of 40 stamina per battle. Characters’ stamina will recover at a rate of one stamina every five minutes. You can manually choose how much stamina your characters consume per battle to save gas fees.

Winning a battle will reward you with SKILL which you can use to upgrade your characters and forge more weapons to earn more rewards.

Beginners’ Tip

A tip for beginners would be to prioritize the element of the first character you recruit to make the most out of your weapons. At the end of the day, you should only invest what you can afford to lose and in playing CryptoBlades, as with other play-to-earn games, you will want to use your resources as efficiently as possible while maximizing your profit.
