LCK 2022 Spring Playoffs Matchups

The LCK 2022 Spring Playoffs matchups are set as the regular season of the esports competition is behind us. T1 managed to complete the perfect-split after its win over DRX and the team is now waiting for its opponent in the semi finals.

Quarter-Final Matchups

• DWG KIA – Fredit BRION |23 March 9:00 CET
• DRX – Kwangdong Freecs |24 March 9:00 CET

The first matchup of the LCK 2022 Spring Playoffs Quarter Finals will be between DWG KIA and Fredit BRION. After dominating the stage for many years, DWG KIA failed to keep its performance this split with its newly formed lineup. Seon “deokdam “Dae-gil and Kim “Kellin” Hyeong-gyu had outstanding performances last year under the Nongshim RedForce jersey but this year they still need time to adapt to others. DWG KIA’s split wasn’t the worst, considering the regular season standings, but fans are used to more from the organization. On the other side of the competition, the weakest ring of the playoffs will be playing, Fredit BRION. FRB’s jungler, Eom “UmTi” Seong-hyeon is playing on another level this split, keeping his team in the competition. However, the team lost the tiebreaker competition against Kwangdong Freecs and DWG KIA is a tougher opponent for sure. It is possible for them to surprise everyone but still, DWG KIA is the favorite of the series.

Secondly, DRX will welcome Kwangdong Freecs, the tiebreaker winner of the regular season. DRX’s last regular season game was against T1 and the team failed to stop its opponent’s 16-game winning streak. On the other hand, Kwangdong Freecs holds many talented players, Kim “Kiin” Gi-in, and Park “Teddy” Jin-seong as the headliners. Other than these two, the remaining players are also very talented but this year DRX’s chemistry is definitely the main reason for its success. With Hong “Pyosik” Chang-hyeon becoming more mature and Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu’s harmony with Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee carrying the team in the later stages, DRX surely a serious contender for this year’s trophy.

Semi Final Matchups

• T1 – TBD | 26 March 9:00 CET
• Gen.G – TBD | 27 March 9:00 CET

T1 managed to end the regular season without a single loss and the team is currently the biggest favorite of this year’s trophy. All of the players are dominant all over the map with Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong and Ryu “Keria” Min-seok breaking records after records in terms of kills and assists.  It will be hard for other teams to beat T1 in the LCK 2022 Spring Playoffs.

Lastly, Gen.G is the closest team to T1 regarding chemistry and roster quality. Even though T1 won both games in the regular season, everything is possible with Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon and Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk on the roster. Gen.G won 15 games this year against very strong opponents. Besides, the team struggled with star players getting COVID during the season. That is why Gen.G had to use its academy players during some games. We may see a surprise in a possible Gen.G-T1 final in the end.

The LCK 2022 Spring Playoffs will start with quarter-final games on March 23.
