Bandai Namco releases Elden Ring trailer, shows open-world, gameplay
Bandai Namco has released a gameplay overview video showcasing a more in-depth look at its latest game Elden Ring. It is less than a week from its initial release date on February 25, 2022, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Windows.
The overview video shows more about the Elden Ring’s open world, gameplay, and story. Further, the video also introduces players to the game’s dungeons and lore behind the players’ characters and more.
Elden Ring’s story, game system
The Elden Ring takes place in a mysterious place called The Lands Between, a world filled with chaos and ruins. Not long after the shattering of the Elden Ring which has disrupted the Eldtree’s source of power, the players play as a tarnished must take on the former heroes now imbued with the Elden Ring’s power to become the Elden Lord.
Furthermore, the video tells the story behind the players’ character, a descendant of exiled heroes known as the Tarnished summoned to The Lands Between.
Unlike FromSoftware’s previous titles, Elden Ring is by far the most ambitious title they have based on the game’s open-world settings, RPG system, and exploration. The open-world area offers players various enemy encounters, mini-bosses, and additional side dungeons. Players will be given a chance to take on the game’s Legacy Dungeons, special challenging, and rewarding fortress areas.
Moreover, The Lands Between is set to have six main regions each with Legacy Dungeons serving as the climax, as per IGN. Suggesting that Legacy Dungeons are a significant part of the game’s story progression. In addition, Legacy Dungeons is speculated to be the home of the game’s lords or bosses, which players can challenge to obtain pieces of Elden Ring.
Elden Ring’s open-world map also allows players customization from custom markers to identify the location of certain enemies and items. Players also may use the game’s fast travel between checkpoints or already found locations to make long-distance travel easier. However, players are given a spectral steed, Torrent, which can be summoned on outside areas.
The game trailer also provides character customization, armor, abilities, and the developer recently has revealed two additional playable classes which players can choose at the beginning of the game. The new two classes are the Confessor and Samurai. Each requires a different kind of playstyle. From the Confessor, a stealthy church spy for covert operations to the Samurai, a capable fighter equipped with katana and longbows.
